Starting conversations early and get the tools you need as a parent..
I am a mom who wanted to have hard conversations with my daughter but did not know how to start or what to say. I needed a prompt to help me begin those conversations and connect with my daughter. As parents, we are navigating so much right now. The world has changed, but the tools we need to parent have not. So I rolled up my sleeves and started Bright Littles, conversation cards and journals for parents and kids.
You may be asking why is it so important to start conversations early with our kids? My daughter is 7, and I am still mommy. She comes to me when she needs anything and talks to me about everything, but we know that will naturally change as she gets older. We also know life becomes much harder to navigate, from bullying to puberty and more. If I want her to come to me when she is older, I must start the hard conversations now and create a safe space so she can talk to me about everything, including the dicult stu. She knows she can trust me, and I will love her no matter what!
“If we want kids to come to us with hard conversations, even though they’re scared, we have to be the kind of person who has hard conversations - even though we’re scared.” Brene Brown
It’s hard to be a mom and not live in fear. The world can feel like a scary place, so I can’t imagine how it must feel to our kids, and that’s why we have to be brave as parents and caregivers and prepare them for the real world. Bright Littles is the tool I needed but could not find to help me be brave and have true conversations with my daughter. Created with experts in child psychology and education, Bright Littles is my love note to my daughter.
We all have an amazing opportunity to raise Bright Littles through kindness and empathy so that when they grow up, they become our future Bright Leaders!
